Anilao sits approximately 140 kilometres south of Manila — close enough for a weekend escape, far enough to feel genuinely removed from the city. The journey typically takes 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic and your departure time. Here are all your options.
By Private Car or Rental
The fastest route takes the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) south to the STAR Tollway, then exits at Batangas City before following the coastal road through San Luis to Mabini. Waze and Google Maps both handle the route reliably. Total toll cost is roughly ₱200–300 each way. We recommend departing Manila before 7am or after 10am to avoid SLEX morning peak traffic.
By Shuttle or Bus
DLTB and Jam Transit operate regular departures from Buendia (Gil Puyat) terminal in Manila to Batangas City Pier. From Batangas City, a tricycle or van transfer to Anilao costs around ₱300–500 per person depending on how many people share the ride. Total travel time including the transfer is 3.5 – 4.5 hours.
By RORO Ferry (the scenic option)
Some guests take the fast craft ferry from Manila to Batangas City Pier — roughly 2 hours on the water — and then a van transfer to Anilao. This option is slower overall but dramatically more comfortable, and the Batangas Bay approach to the coastline is a beautiful introduction to the area.
Casa Escondida tip: If you are travelling as a group of 4 or more, a private van transfer from Manila to the resort door is often the same price as individual bus tickets and dramatically faster. Ask our reservations team for a referral.
From Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA)
Allow at least 30 minutes from NAIA to the SLEX on-ramp, more on weekday afternoons. Grab or airport taxis to Anilao directly range from ₱1,800–2,500 depending on traffic. Many guests combine a first night in Manila with an early morning departure to be diving by midday.
